Mike gets the first keeper flounder of September!

Mike Barnasevitch of Levitton, PA. brought in this nice 20" flounder today. He caught it right off the point of Assateague.

Grant and Wayne come back to Chincoteague for more flounder!

Grant Hummer caught this 22" flounder with the help of his brother, Wayne handling the net. Grant and Wayne Hummer hail from Lititz, PA. They picked a good weekend to come back to Chincoteague for the fishing.

Dave and Don Snyder of North Carolina, brought in at least 50 good size croaker today. Dave and Don caught all the croaker in Queen Sound and they only kept croaker that were at least 12" long. What a nice haul. Good job guys!

Dave Evans from New Jersey, is holding this 22 1/2" flounder he caught today. He was fishing at the end of Chincoteague in the Channel. Good job, Dave!

Mike Toff and Justin Chenault holding a couple of the fish they caught at one of the in-shore wrecks. Mike's from Chincoteague and Justin's from Laurel, MD.

The guys brought in a total of 13 flounder (19" to 23") and 11 tautog. God job guys!!!

Orange watermelon???

Okay, I know this doesn't have anything to do with fishing. But I was amazed when Mike Toff let me have a taste of this orange watermelon. Surprisingly, it tastes just like a regular watermelon but no seeds. Very cool looking.

John Chenault, Mike Toff, Justin and John R. Chenault got quite a haul of flounder and tautog today.

They were drifting over one of the in-shore wrecks to get this mass of fish. Great job guys!!

Kaelyn and Aliza Heinicke of Ivyland, PA came back from fishing at one of the in-shore wrecks with some interesting fish. Kaelyn is holding the trigger fish she caught and Aliza is holding a 19 1/2" flounder. Good job girls!!

John Chenault of Laurel, MD and Jimmy Vasiliou of Chincoteague brought in some nice flounder today.

John and Jimmy caught these 21� to 23� flounder at one of the in-shore wrecks.

Wayne, Grant and Carl got the prize today for these keeper flounder!!!

Wayne and Grant Hummer from Lititz, PA and Carl Smatko from Nanticoke, PA show me their catch. Wayne had a 20 1/2" flounder. Grant's was 21 1/2" and Carl got a 19" flounder. There are some nice size flounder.

The guys caught these keepers in Assateague Channel by Memorial Park and by the "Keep Out" house.

Mike caught dinner! YEAH!!!

Harry Clegg Jr, Harry Clegg Sr, Mike Ausley (the younger) and Mike Ausley (the senior) showing off their catch. They have the record for the most keeper flounder caught in one day this year. 4 - 19" flounder and 2 - 20" flounder. Excellent job guys!!!! The Harrys and the Mikes caught these flouder in Assateague Channel. Harry Jr, and both Mikes hale from Louisville, KY and Harry Sr is from Drayden, MD. Thanks for renting a boat from us at East Side.

Come in to see us so we can tell you where the secret fishing spot is.

Latest update on the injured dauphin

Mark, Linda, Maureen and Kristin from the Virginia Aquarium Stranding Team came up to Chincoteague this morning. Mark Swingle is the Director of Research & Conservation at the Virginia Aquarium. Linda and Maureen are employed by the Aquarium and Kristin is a new internet with the Aquarium. Their plan was to search around Assateague Channel as far north as the Assateague Bridge and as far south as the end of Chincoteague in search of the injured dauphin.

Unfortunately, after about 2 1/2 to 3 hours of searching, the dauphin was not spotted. The team had to head back to Virginia Beach but promised to make every effort to return to Chincoteague if and when the dauphin was spotted again. But they tried their hardest to find the dauphing and I thank them for their efforts.
